Overview

Criminal law includes a narrow but serious category of offenses designed to protect the security of the nation and the integrity of government institutions. Crimes such as treason, espionage, sedition, and terrorism involve heightened statutory requirements and are applied cautiously due to their constitutional implications. Courts carefully analyze intent, conduct, and statutory authority when determining criminal liability in these cases.

In this assignment, you will compose a complete case brief using the IRAC model, with specific attention given to the Analysis and Conclusion sections. You will also identify the primary national security or government integrity offense addressed in your assigned case, such as treason, sedition, espionage, terrorism, perjury, or obstruction of justice. This activity strengthens your ability to analyze how courts apply strict statutory standards when evaluating crimes that implicate national security and governmental authority.
