Module Overview

This module examines Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT), an intelligence discipline that combines imagery, geographic information, mapping technologies, and spatial analysis to support intelligence collection and decision-making. GEOINT allows intelligence professionals to visualize, analyze, and understand activities occurring across physical environments by integrating data from satellites, drones, aerial reconnaissance platforms, sensors, and geographic information systems.

Students will explore how GEOINT supports military operations, counterterrorism missions, disaster response, border security, and strategic intelligence assessments. The module examines how imagery and location-based information can reveal patterns, identify threats, track movements, and provide decision-makers with a clearer understanding of operational environments.

The module also addresses the technological advancements that have transformed GEOINT capabilities, including high-resolution satellite imagery, unmanned aerial systems, artificial intelligence-assisted imagery analysis, and real-time geospatial data collection. Students will evaluate both the operational benefits and ethical concerns associated with these technologies, particularly issues involving surveillance, privacy, accountability, and the expanding role of geospatial monitoring in intelligence operations.
