Module Overview
This module examines the role of international intelligence partnerships in addressing global security challenges. Modern threats such as terrorism, cyberattacks, transnational organized crime, espionage, disinformation campaigns, and geopolitical instability frequently cross national borders, requiring intelligence agencies to collaborate with foreign partners. As a result, intelligence sharing and international cooperation have become essential components of contemporary intelligence operations.
Students will explore how intelligence agencies from different countries cooperate to collect information, analyze threats, conduct joint operations, and support national and international security objectives. The module examines both formal alliances and informal partnerships while considering the factors that contribute to successful intelligence sharing relationships.
Particular attention will be given to issues of trust, transparency, political interests, legal restrictions, and information security. Students will analyze how geopolitical tensions can both strengthen and complicate international intelligence cooperation. Through the examination of real-world examples and global crises, students will evaluate the effectiveness of international intelligence partnerships and consider strategies for strengthening cooperation in an increasingly interconnected world.
