Module Overview
This module examines the importance of collaboration among intelligence agencies and organizations. Modern security threats rarely fall within the responsibility of a single agency, making coordination, information sharing, and joint operations essential components of effective intelligence collection and analysis. Intelligence organizations must work across institutional, jurisdictional, and operational boundaries to identify threats, support decision-makers, and protect national security.
Students will explore the structures, frameworks, and processes that facilitate interagency collaboration within the intelligence community. The module examines both the successes and challenges associated with intelligence sharing, including organizational culture, bureaucratic barriers, competing priorities, leadership challenges, and information security concerns. Students will evaluate how intelligence agencies coordinate resources and expertise to address complex security issues.
Particular attention will be given to crisis response and major security events where effective collaboration was critical to operational success. Students will analyze how policy reforms, organizational changes, and technological advancements have influenced intelligence coordination over time. By examining real-world examples, students will assess strategies for improving information sharing and strengthening partnerships across the intelligence community.
