Module 11: Emerging Technologies and the Future of Intelligence Collection
Review all module materials and expectations carefully before beginning your work.
Module Overview
This module explores how emerging technologies are transforming intelligence collection, analysis, and decision-making. Intelligence agencies increasingly rely on advanced technologies to process vast amounts of information, identify patterns, detect threats, and support strategic planning. Among the most significant technological developments are artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, advanced analytics, automation, and the emerging potential of quantum computing.
Students will examine how these technologies are reshaping traditional intelligence practices and creating new opportunities for intelligence organizations. The module explores the benefits associated with faster data processing, predictive analysis, automation, and enhanced analytical capabilities while also considering the limitations and risks that accompany these innovations.
Particular attention will be given to the ethical, legal, and policy challenges associated with emerging technologies. Students will evaluate concerns related to algorithmic bias, transparency, accountability, privacy, cybersecurity, and human oversight. The module also examines the potential impact of quantum computing on encryption, cybersecurity, and intelligence operations. Through critical analysis, students will assess how intelligence agencies can responsibly integrate emerging technologies while maintaining public trust and protecting democratic values.
Important: Carefully review all module materials, instructions, and grading expectations before beginning any activity.
