Module 10: Cyber Intelligence and Emerging Threats

Review all module materials and expectations carefully before beginning your work.

Module Overview

This module examines the growing role of cyber intelligence in modern national security operations. As governments, businesses, and individuals become increasingly dependent on digital technologies, cyber threats have emerged as one of the most significant challenges facing intelligence agencies. Cyber intelligence supports the identification, monitoring, assessment, and mitigation of cyber threats ranging from criminal hacking and ransomware attacks to state-sponsored cyber operations and cyber warfare.

Students will explore how intelligence agencies collect, analyze, and share cyber-related information to support national security objectives. The module examines the relationship between cyber intelligence, cybersecurity, and intelligence collection while highlighting the unique challenges associated with operating in a rapidly evolving digital environment. Particular attention will be given to major cyber incidents and the lessons learned from those events.

The module also explores the importance of interagency coordination in responding to cyber threats. Effective responses often require collaboration among intelligence agencies, law enforcement organizations, military entities, private-sector partners, and international stakeholders. Students will evaluate how cooperation, information sharing, and coordinated strategies contribute to successful cyber threat detection, response, and prevention efforts.

Important: Carefully review all module materials, instructions, and grading expectations before beginning any activity.
