Overview
Early biological theories of crime influenced policies and practices that had lasting and harmful consequences. The American eugenics movement is one example of how criminological ideas, when misapplied, can shape law, social policy, and criminal justice practice in damaging ways.
In this discussion, you will examine the eugenics movement, its key actors, and its long-term effects on contemporary social and criminal justice issues.
