Biological theories of crime have influenced a wide range of social and criminal justice policies, both directly and indirectly. Understanding how these theories shape policy helps criminal justice practitioners evaluate the assumptions behind intervention strategies and assess their ethical and practical consequences.
In this assignment, you will analyze the relationship between biological theories of crime, social policy initiatives, and competing perspectives on crime causation.

In your paper, address the following:
  • Identify and explain at least one social or criminal justice policy that reflects biological theories of crime causation.
  • Analyze how biological assumptions are reflected in the design or implementation of that policy.
  • Evaluate whether biological theories of crime align more closely with the social problems perspective or the individual responsibility perspective, and explain why.
  • Discuss the implications of this alignment for criminal justice practice and policy decisions.
Your response should emphasize analysis, ethical awareness, and practitioner relevance rather than summary.
Acceptable and Ethical Use of AI
  • Use AI to clarify biological theories of crime or identify policy initiatives associated with biological perspectives. Do not use AI to write sections of the paper.
