Overview

Criminal liability can extend beyond the individual who directly commits an offense to those who assist, encourage, or participate in criminal conduct. Courts use doctrines such as accomplice liability, conspiracy, and vicarious liability to determine when shared responsibility is appropriate. These doctrines require careful analysis of intent, conduct, and foreseeability to ensure that liability is imposed fairly.

In this assignment, you will compose a complete case brief using the IRAC model, with specific attention given to the Analysis and Conclusion sections. You will also identify the primary accomplice or group liability concept addressed in your assigned case, such as accomplice acts, accessory intent, conspiracy, or the natural and probable consequences doctrine. This activity strengthens your ability to analyze how courts assign criminal responsibility when multiple actors are involved in an offense.
