Overview

Criminal law includes offenses designed to maintain public order and regulate collective behavior that threatens safety, peace, or lawful authority. Courts closely examine conduct related to disorderly behavior, unlawful assembly, and failure to comply with lawful orders, while also distinguishing these offenses from constitutionally protected activity. These cases often require careful analysis of statutory language, intent, and the surrounding circumstances.

In this assignment, you will compose a complete case brief using the IRAC model, with specific attention given to the Analysis and Conclusion sections. You will also identify the primary public order or related criminal doctrine addressed in your assigned case, such as disorderly conduct, unlawful assembly, vagrancy, failure to disperse, or criminal possession or trafficking offenses. This activity strengthens your ability to analyze how courts balance public order enforcement with individual rights and statutory limits.
