Module 2: Law Enforcement Organizations in the United States and Around the World

Review all module materials and expectations carefully before beginning your work.

Module Overview

In this module, you will examine how law enforcement agencies are organized at the federal, state, county, and local levels within the United States. You will explore the unique responsibilities, jurisdictions, and missions of various agencies and consider how these organizations cooperate to address crime and public safety concerns.

You will also compare American law enforcement systems with policing models used in other countries. By examining similarities and differences in organizational structure, authority, training, and accountability, you will gain a broader understanding of how culture, government, and public policy influence policing practices around the world.

Through readings, discussions, and applied learning activities, you will evaluate the strengths and challenges associated with different policing systems and consider how organizational design affects the delivery of law enforcement services.

Important: Carefully review all module materials, instructions, and grading expectations before beginning any activity.
