Module Overview
In this final module, you will bring together the major concepts explored throughout CRJ103: Modern Policing. Across the course, you examined the historical development of policing, law enforcement organization and administration, police culture, patrol operations, community-oriented policing, constitutional limits on police authority, criminal investigations, officer stress, ethics, homeland security, organized crime, private security, labor relations, and emerging technologies.
The Final Research Paper gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of modern policing by applying course concepts to a significant issue facing law enforcement. This assignment requires you to analyze a topic, support your position with research, and explain how the issue connects to broader themes such as accountability, discretion, community trust, constitutional rights, public safety, and contemporary policing challenges.
As you complete this module, focus on producing a clear, organized, well-supported final submission that reflects your learning throughout the semester. This is your opportunity to show how your understanding of policing has developed and how course concepts can be applied to real-world criminal justice issues.
