This discussion focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of controlling prison gangs and the ethical, legal, and operational challenges that arise when correctional facilities attempt to disrupt gang influence.

Discussion Topic(s)
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of controlling prison gangs?
- What possible remedies could correctional facilities employ to limit the influence of gangs outside and inside of the facility?
- Should incarcerated gang members be prevented from communicating with the outside world?
- Should individuals labeled as STGs be segregated from the general population?
Directions
Please read all instructions carefully before participating in the discussion.
- Students must complete one Main Post that answers the discussion topic using more than 250 words.
- Students must reply to at least two of their classmates (Peer Responses) using at least 150 words. Responses should encourage further dialogue in the discussion forum. Asking a classmate, a question is a nice way of furthering that dialogue.
