Module Overview
This module focuses on how legal standards and courtroom practices shape fairness and decision-making within the American justice system. You will examine the differences in the burden of proof between civil and criminal cases and analyze how these standards are applied through real court cases. The module also explores the structure of the dual court system, highlighting how state and federal courts share authority and responsibility. In addition, you will critically assess the role of plea bargaining and its impact on due process and defendants’ rights. Through analysis and reflection, you will evaluate the balance between efficiency and fairness in the courts. Together, these activities strengthen your understanding of legal reasoning, constitutional protections, and the practical realities of courtroom justice.
